Appearance
Keep the addresses your team opens every day in one place: admin portals, vendor sites, dashboards and consoles, with how to sign in and where the password is. Never the password itself.
Overview
Links sits under Documentation in the sidebar, on every plan, and everyone in your company sees the same links. Each link has:
- a Name and its Address, opening in a new tab, with the site's icon for public sites;
- a Category: Admin portals, Network, Vendors, Cloud, Monitoring, Other, or one you type;
- How to sign in: Single sign on (with a note such as "Entra, blessed account"), a Username, or a Shared account;
- Where the password is: a Vault secret you pick, if your company uses the Vault, or a place you name in words, such as "LastPass: Network / Cloudflare". TekStacks never asks for the password;
- Notes, in Markdown, and the records it Belongs to: equipment, locations, vendors and services.
The Links page lists them with search, a Category filter and Starred by you. Below them, Equipment management addresses lists every console recorded on your equipment (a switch's or server's Management URL), straight from the equipment, so you never type them twice.
Links also show:
- on the pages of the records they belong to, under Links;
- in Bookmarks, at the top of every page: your starred links first, then the rest by category, each opening in a new tab. With more than 10 there is a filter box; All links opens the page;
- on Home, under Your links, the ones you starred;
- in the search at the top, under Links.
Requirements
- Plan: any plan. Picking a Vault secret needs the Vault turned on.
- Role: everyone sees links and can star them. To add, edit and archive them, Add, edit and archive links (Admin, Manager and Technician by default).
Add a link
- Open Documentation, then Links, and click Add link.
- Enter the Name and the Address (http or https).
- Type or pick a Category.
- Under How to sign in, choose Single sign on, Username or Shared account, and fill in the username or a note on which account to use.
- Under Where the password is, pick the Vault secret or name the place in words.
- Add Notes and the records it Belongs to, if you like.
- Save.
If you manage clients, a link belongs to the client you are working in. Turn on Share with every client for a portal you use for all of them, such as your Cloudflare account.
Star, edit or archive
- Click the star on a link's row to put it at the top of your Bookmarks and on your home page. Stars are yours alone.
- Click the edit icon to change it, or the archive icon to take it out of the list. Archived links are kept; filter for Archived to bring one back.
Notes
Note: An AI assistant can add links for you in bulk. Give it your browser's bookmarks export (the HTML file from Chrome, Edge or Firefox) or paste a list, and it reads each name and address, uses the folders as categories, and shows you the list to check before saving. See AI assistants.
Note: The API reads links with any company token and writes them with Add, edit and archive links. It never carries a password or a Vault secret.
Troubleshooting
A link shows a globe instead of the site's icon. Icons are only fetched from public sites over https, never from an address like 10.0.0.1 or a .local name, so the page never knocks on your own devices.
I cannot see Add link. Your role does not have Add, edit and archive links. Ask an Admin.
