Appearance
Your own name, email, password and ways of signing in, all on one page.
Overview
Open it from your name at the top right, then Profile and security. The page has these sections:
- Profile: your name and email.
- Password: change it.
- Authenticator app: codes from your phone instead of email (see Authenticator app).
- Microsoft account: link your Microsoft work account, shown when your company has connected Microsoft (see Sign in with Microsoft).
- Passkeys: sign in with no password (see Passkeys).
- Signed in sessions: every browser signed in now.
- Known browsers: every browser that has signed in (see New sign ins).
Changing anything here asks for your password first (or a passkey), and you are emailed about every change.
Requirements
- Your own TekStacks user. Every role has this page. Admins change other people's details under Users (see Users).
Change your name
- Under Profile, edit Name.
- Click Save.
Change your email
- Under Profile, enter the New email and click Change email.
- Confirm your password.
- TekStacks emails a code to the new address. Enter it in Code and click Confirm.
Your email changes only when the code comes back. Your old address is told about the change. The code works for 30 minutes and five tries.
If you linked a Microsoft account whose sign in name differs from your email, the page offers Use ... as my email. That changes your email to your Microsoft sign in name with no code, since Microsoft already proved it is yours.
Note: If an Admin or TekStacks support asked to change your email, the page says so. It changes only when the new address confirms the link sent to it. Click Cancel this change to stop it.
Change your password
- Under Password, enter your Current password, a New password and Confirm new password.
- Click Change password.
Every other session is signed out.
Sign out other browsers
- Under Signed in sessions, find the browser. Each shows its IP address and when it was last active.
- Click Sign out beside it, or Sign out every other session.
Troubleshooting
"Someone here already uses that email." Another user in your company has it. An Admin can change that user's email under Users first.
"That code is not right." or "That code has expired. Start the change again." Check the newest email to the new address. After 30 minutes or five wrong tries, enter the new email again.
"This password does not match our records." Your current password is wrong. If you forgot it, sign out and use Forgot your password? on the sign in page.
FAQ
Why does the page ask for my password again? Every change to how you sign in confirms it is you first. You are not asked again for a few hours.
My company signs in with Microsoft only. Can I change my email? Yes, but use your Microsoft sign in name, or you will not be able to sign in.
