When your company moves to a plan without clients, each client is merged into your company or deleted. Nothing is left hidden for good.

Overview

There are two ways this happens.

You change plans on the Billing page. Before a plan without clients takes effect, TekStacks asks what happens to each client, and nothing changes until every client has a choice.

Your plan stops including clients some other way, such as a lapse. Your clients are hidden, every Admin is emailed the date they will be deleted, with reminders 7 days and 1 day before, and a banner reads "Your plan does not include clients. They are deleted on" the date "unless merged into your company or you move to a plan with clients." Clients still there on that date are deleted with everything in them.

For each client you choose:

• Merge: everything in the client moves into your company. People in both, by email or Microsoft account, become one employee; names that clash, such as two locations called "Main office", get the client's name added; an asset tag your company already uses is cleared from the client's equipment and kept in its notes.
• Delete: the client and everything in it are deleted now. This cannot be undone. Its history stays in the activity log, and files in your own storage bucket are left there.

• Role: Admin (Plan and billing).
• Plan: applies when moving from MSP to a plan without the Clients feature.

Steps

When changing plans

1. Under Administration, open Billing and choose a plan without clients.
2. In Before moving to the plan, choose Merge into your company or Delete it for each client. For a client you delete, type its name to confirm.
3. Click Handle clients and continue.

When the banner appears

1. Click Handle clients in the banner, or open Billing, then Clients on your plan.
2. Optionally export your records first.
3. For each client, click Merge and confirm, or click Delete and type the client's name.

To keep your clients as they are instead, move back to a plan with clients on the Billing page. The deletion date is cleared.

Troubleshooting

"Type the client's name exactly." The name you typed to confirm a delete does not match. Type it exactly as shown.

"Choose for every client." When changing plans, every client needs Merge or Delete before the move goes ahead.

FAQ

What happens to the activity log? It stays. A merge or delete is recorded with counts of what moved or was removed.

Can I undo a merge? No. Export your records first if you might need them.
