Confirm that a library entry's details are correct, or suggest a fix when something is wrong. Three companies agreeing makes an entry verified or applies a fix.

Overview

Entries start as Community. When three different companies verify that an entry's details are correct, it becomes Verified. Each company verifies an entry once, whoever at the company does it.

A suggested fix is applied when three companies agree with it, or by TekStacks support. When a fix is applied, the entry gets a new version: the companies that agreed with the fix count as verifying the new details, and earlier verifications no longer count.

No company sees which others verified or suggested anything, only how many did.

Requirements

• Role: Edit equipment. Admin and Manager have it by default.

Step 1: Verify an entry

1. In the sidebar, open Device library, All devices, and find the device.
2. Click Verify on its row. The button appears only if your company has not verified this entry yet.
3. Check the details shown, and click These details are correct.

TekStacks thanks you, or says the device "is now verified" if yours was the third verification.

Step 2: Suggest a fix

1. Click Suggest a fix on the device's row.
2. Change only what is wrong.
3. In Why, say what is wrong and how you know: the maker's datasheet, or the device in hand.
4. Save. TekStacks confirms with Fix suggested.

Your company counts as the first to agree with its own fix. If another company already suggested exactly the same change, yours counts as agreeing with it.

Step 3: Agree with someone else's fix

1. A row with "Fix suggested" under its status shows Review the suggested fix.
2. Click it to see what would change and why.
3. Click Agree.

TekStacks thanks you, or says "The fix is applied" if yours was the third agreement.

Notes

Note: Your company has one open fix per device. Suggesting another replaces your earlier one.

Note: When a fix is applied, other open fixes that change the same details are closed, since they were written against old details. Suggest again from the new version if you still disagree.

Troubleshooting

"Nothing differs from the entry as it is." You saved the form without changing anything.

There is no Verify button on an entry. Your company already verified it, or your company is on a free trial.

I cannot verify or suggest fixes at all. Your role does not include Edit equipment. Ask an Admin.
