Every save of a documentation page is kept, with who saved it and when, and any earlier version can be made current again.

Overview

Open a page and click History under its title. The list on the left shows every saved version, newest first, with the date, the person who saved it, and current beside the newest. Click a version to read it as it was.

Restoring never deletes anything. The version you restore becomes a new current version, noted as "Restored from" followed by the original date, and the page as it was stays in the history.

Requirements

  • Role: Read documentation to see the history (every built in role by default). Write, archive and restore documentation to restore a version (Admin, Manager and Technician by default).

Steps

  1. Open the page and click History.
  2. Click the version you want in the list.
  3. Click Restore this version.
  4. Confirm with Restore.

Notes

Note: A new version is kept when the title or text changes. Moving a page under another page, or changing its order, does not add one.

Note: Archiving a page keeps its history. See Pages and folders.

FAQ

Is there a limit to how many versions are kept? The page keeps every version.

Why is there no Restore button? You are looking at the current version, or your role cannot write documentation.
