Why I built TekStacks
Last updated October 13, 2026
I have spent more than twenty years in IT. I started on the help desk and worked my way through enterprise systems, infrastructure and cloud, for in-house teams and MSPs, private companies and government. The titles changed along the way. One problem never did.
Where does the documentation live?
Ask that in almost any IT department and you get a shrug: a binder, a shared drive, a spreadsheet only one person understands. It works until that person moves on. Then what they knew walks out the door with them, and whoever comes next starts from scratch.
I tried to fix it with the systems my teams built and the products we bought. Some came close. None did everything, and the ones that came closest were priced for large enterprises, not for a small shop or a two person IT department. Filling the gaps meant buying more tools, and I have never liked needing a handful of tools to do one job.
So I built the one I wanted
TekStacks keeps your equipment, documentation, network, licenses and renewals in one place, at a price a small team can actually pay. You do not have to move in all at once. Start with your equipment today and grow into the rest when you are ready. Whatever your team writes down stays put, through vacations, promotions and the next hire.
Twenty years of keeping things running
TekStacks comes from Lithium Hosting, which marked twenty years of hosting and support in 2026. Two decades of keeping customers' sites and servers up taught us that a tool is only as good as the people who stand behind it. That is the standard TekStacks is held to: reliable, looked after, and answered by people who know it.
